The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has announced the recruitment of 17 Computer Operator positions. Eligible candidates are invited to apply online before the deadline on April 13, 2024.
APSC 2024 Recruitment Details
Position: Computer Operator
Vacancies: 17
Category-wise Vacancies:
- Unreserved (UR): 8
- Other Backward Class (OBC)/ More Other Backward Class (MOBC): 5
- Scheduled Caste (SC): 1
- Scheduled Tribe Plains (STP): 2
- Scheduled Tribe Hills (STH): 1
Pay Scale: Rs. 14,000/- to 60,500/- with a Grade Pay of Rs. 6,200/-
Age Limit: Candidates should be between 18 and 40 years of age as of January 1, 2024.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary or Class XII from a Government recognized Board/Council.
Additional APSC Recruitment Criteria
Citizenship: Candidates must be Indian Citizens as defined in Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India.
Residency:
- Candidates must be permanent residents of Assam.
- Candidates must produce a Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued in Assam for educational purpose/ Employment Exchange Registration certificate as proof of residency along with the application form.
Age Relaxation: Age relaxation is applicable as per category.
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC/MOBC: 3 years
- Persons with Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years
Employment Exchange Registration: Candidates must be registered in any of the employment exchanges of Assam.
Small Family Norms: Candidates must submit a declaration regarding “The Small Family Norms” in Form-A at the time of applying for the post.
Computer Proficiency: Candidates must have good working knowledge of office productivity software tools (independent of any operating system i.e. MS Windows, Linux, Mac etc.) such as Word Processor, Spreadsheet, Presentation Graphics, Content of Database, Internet and E-Mail. Candidates must possess a minimum 6 (six) months completed diploma/ certificate in computer proficiency, from a Govt. of Assam recognized institution (no breaks in qualification admissible) and must have computing knowledge in Assamese and English Language.

Selection Process of APSC Recruitment
The selection process will consist of two phases:
- Screening Test (OMR Based) of 100 Marks
- Computer Practical Test (including Speed Test) of 100 marks (Phase-II)
The topic-wise syllabus for the Screening Test is as follows:
- General English: 40 Marks
- General Theory: 40 Marks
- General Awareness: 20 Marks
- Total: 100 Marks
Phase II
Against each vacancy 04 (four) candidates will be short listed on the basis of the marks obtained in the Screening Test. The short listed candidates shall have to appear in the Computer Proficiency Practical Test to be held centrally in Guwahati along with original testimonials.
